Type Locality and Naming

By the spring of Vaush, South Nuratau Ridge. I. A. Pyanova et al., 1986 (371, p.49-50). Stratotype in the area of the Vaush spring.

Synonym: Vaush Suite, Варшская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Quartz sandstones, mica-quartz sandstones with admixture of gravel material and phyllitic slates, albite-sericite-quartz slates with layers and packages of dolomites and dolomitized limestones. Thickness 450m.

Fossils

Contains stromatoporoids Ecclimadictyon cf. fastigiatum (Nich.), Ec. cf. pandum Nestor., 

Clavidictyon">Clavidictyon (?) sp.; amphiporoids - Paramphipora sp., Amphipora sp., Amphiporidae; corals - Scoliopora sp. ind.; fragments of rugose corals, characterizing the Early Silurian (Wenlock)–Late Silurian–Early Devonian age of the rocks.


Age 

D.M. Ogarev et al. (1970), V.S. Korsakov et al. (1984) determined the age of these deposits as early Devonian; I.A. Pyanova et al. (1984; 371), V.S. Korsakov et al. (1993) and Strat. Sl. (443) - early Silurian (Wenlock) - early Devonian. N.I. Poznyakov et al. (1989) referred the carbonate deposits to the Devonian, the terrigenous part of the section - to the middle-late Ordovician by comparison with similar deposits of Kuldjuktau.
